Hello,
I am currently employed at a relatively large company that has not yet had the opportunity to implement automated reporting. Currently, most of our reporting is done through extracting data from Excel and using PowerBI.
My team has the highest license type, which is Premium Per User, with three of us having this license, and we have around 250 Pro users.
We are in the process of integrating our ERP platform, SAP, into Azure. We have made progress by setting up a stream analytics between SAP S/4 and Azure SQL database. Now, we are looking to connect the SQL database to PowerBI.
However, we are facing an issue with the requirement of using the Virtual Network Data Gateway due to high cybersecurity. It seems that my license type is not supported for this.
I have been trying to understand the licensing requirements, but it is quite complex and it appears that Microsoft has recently made changes to it. Some in my organization have said that the Premium Per User license previously worked for creating a Virtual Network Data Gateway.
I would greatly appreciate any advice on how we can make the necessary connections so that I can propose a solution to the organization. We have determined that we will utilize Azure as our database and central data hub, and PowerBI as our reporting tool.
What would be the best next step for us in enabling automated reporting and moving away from using excel extracts into PowerBI?

Hi @Fraistan ,
New configuration settings have been introduced in the VNET Data Gateway Configuration page to bind the VNET Data Gateway to a fabric or Power BI Premium capacity. Binding to capacity is required to edit an existing VNET Data Gateway or create a new Data Gateway. More detailed information can be found at the link:

Thanks!
So either upgrade licenses + pay for VNET or go with Azure VM for the gateway.
We are in a similar if not the same situation. What is Azure VM?
