Powerquery online failure 500
Hi,
I do have several workspace and inside each some tables.
Last week I created a new dataflow, using sharepoint folder and a SQL database to combine data. This is working fine.
The issue is I had to modify the transformation a couple of times and now I can see the following behaviour:
I edit the Dataflow, save it, refresh and test. Once I need to change again I get the following error and can not go into the Powerquery online:
Activity ID: xxxxxb3
Request ID: dxxxx4baf92
Correlation ID: xxxxx71f
Status code: 500
Time: Thu Aug 07 2025 13:22:02 GMT+0800 (China Standard Time)
Service version: 13.0.26414.36
Client version: 2507.4.25234-train
Cluster URI: https://wabi-germany-west-central-primary-redirect.analysis.windows.net/
Normally after a few hours its working again. This happened today again on a new dataflow.
Is this maybe linked to the workload of all my dataflows? Or is this a bug?
thanks

HI Hansolu
these are usually temporary issues. Anyway, should it persist today, I suggest you open a support ticket to Microsoft
If this helped, please consider giving kudos and mark as a solution

Hi
well, this workflow is working again, as mentioned after some time.
But the error happens now every day on several other dataflows.
I do not know about the CPU usage in the online service. I am afraid we use too much in the meantime and therefore we get more troubles.
we do have several Pro license, we do have, not sure, 20 dataflows with refresh 3-8 times a day and about 20 reports. Not sure if this is using too much ressources we have on our workspace.

Hi Hansolu ,
Thank you for providing the details. This issue can occur occasionally, especially when working with dataflows that have complex steps. The Status Code 500 error typically indicates a temporary issue on the Power BI service side. Possible causes include
- Making extensive changes or applying heavy transformations in the dataflow
- Running or refreshing multiple dataflows at once
- Temporary service issues in your region
Since the issue resolves itself after a few hours, it is likely due to a temporary overload rather than a problem with your dataflow.

Hi Hansolu ,
Thanks for the update. I completely understand how frustrating this must be, especially now that it’s happening daily. while the issue may resolve temporarily, that isn’t a sustainable solution.
Since it’s recurring and affecting your productivity, the best next step is to open a support case with Microsoft. They’ll be able to investigate further using the Activity ID, Correlation ID, and timestamps you’ve provided.
