Powerbi template app customer leads with https endpoint in partner center
Hi kartikarinexus,
Customer leads are supported for Power BI template app offers. Microsoft’s Power BI app offer setup guidance states that a lead is generated when a customer expresses interest in or deploys the product, and that the lead can be routed to an HTTPS endpoint configured under Customer leads.
For a non-transactional Marketplace offer, Microsoft’s customer-lead documentation indicates that the acquisition event is normally triggered when the customer selects Get It Now or Contact me from the Marketplace listing. A successful installation performed only through a direct template-app installation link may therefore not be equivalent to an AppSource acquisition event.
I would test the full Marketplace path with a separate customer account:
- Open the public AppSource listing while signed in as the test customer.
- Select Get It Now and complete the installation.
- Check whether the lead appears first in the Partner Center Referrals workspace.
- Then verify whether the same lead reaches the HTTPS endpoint.
The expected acquisition lead should normally have a LeadSource action containing INS, which Microsoft defines as an installation event.
If the lead appears in Referrals but not in your CRM, the issue is likely with the HTTPS delivery or endpoint processing. Microsoft’s HTTPS lead-management guidance explains that this connector is implemented through Power Automate, so I would review the flow’s run history as well as any failed or rejected requests.
If no lead appears in Referrals after completing the installation from the public listing, I would open a Partner Center support case and provide the offer ID, publisher ID, test tenant, installation time and customer account used.
So the feature should be supported. The main distinction is between validating the endpoint, installing from a direct Power BI link, and acquiring the offer through its actual Marketplace listing.
I hope this helps isolate where the lead is being lost.
