Powerbi Embed in web application

Question is related to Power BI embeded.

1. Planning to use Embed for organization.

2. Do we need dedicated capacity ? for this organization embed to work ?

Documentation says dedicated capacity is required for moving production.

Power BI embedded analytics requires a capacity (AEM, or P SKU) in order to publish embedded Power BI content."

Thanks!

  • HI venupbi ,

I think the issue is the definition of "embed".  You can "embed" a report into a SharePoint page or other "web" page on your site.  However, each person that views that report must have a license (at least Pro).  You do not have to have Premium to embed in some scenarios and must have it in some other scenarios.

And, there is a difference between internal/external embedding (Power BI embedded analytics overview - Power BI | Microsoft Learn)

Another version of embedding that does NOT require any licensing is to embed onto a website.  Of course, this is a NO SECURITY option so this is not as common an embed type.  (See Power BI Embedded Example : :: Welcome To EPM Strategy :: as an example of that).

    Hi venupbi ,

Power BI embedded analytics allows you to embed your Power BI items such as reports, dashboards and tiles, in a web application or in a website.

Secure embed is the simplest no-code way to embed a report into any portal that accepts a URL or iFrame. The viewer of the report must be properly licensed and can't interact with the report. Secure embed is available in the Power BI service.

    Secure embed:

1.Embed a report in a secure portal or website: To view the embedded report, you need either a Power BI Pro or Premium Per User (PPU) license. Or, the content needs to be in a workspace that's in a Power BI Premium capacity (EM or P SKU).

    2. Publish to web:

    • You need a Microsoft Power BI license to publish to web from My Workspace.
    • You need a Microsoft Power BI Pro license to publish to web from group workspaces.

    3. Embed report in SharePoint Online: A Power BI Pro or Premium Per User (PPU) license is required to embed a web part in SharePoint Online. Users with a free Power BI license can't embed reports, but they can view if the report is hosted in Power BI Premium capacity (EM or P SKU). In that case, you only need a free Power BI license to view reports that are embedded in SharePoint Online.

    Advanced solutions:

    1.embed for your customers:

    2.embed for your organization:

To move to production you'll need one of the following configurations:

    • All users with Pro licenses.
    • All users with PPU licenses.
    • A P or EM capacity. This configuration allows all users to have free licenses.

Power BI embedded analytics requires a capacity (A, EM, or P SKU) in order to publish embedded Power BI content.

Capacity is a dedicated set of resources reserved for exclusive use. It offers dependable, consistent performance for your content. For more details, you can read related document: Capacity and SKUs in Power BI embedded analytics - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
