PowerBi dataflows online, connecting to an odata source with MFA leads to data credential errors

I'm new to dataflows in PowerBi online. I recently activated multi factor auth on my account for a ticketing system that provides an odata connection, and am attempting to connect to the data using a flow in the PowerBi online service. Upon initial creation it connects just fine. However any attempts to edit the credentials, and/or add a second dataflow, all of a sudden the credentials fail. Is this a permissions issue? do I need a VNET? I have no rights to gateway clusers or such (nor do I fully understand them). If I use powerquery via excel desktop, I can connect with no errors. My goal is to eventually combine the odata with data in excel files on my business one drive, and use an automated daily refresh, and eventually to connect to paginated reports (I have a prem user license and a workspace with prem capacity)

If you plan to have your dataset refresh automatically in the service you need to provide an authentication method that is understood and supported by the service.  MFA is a manual process and not suitable for service refreshes.
