PowerBI user with prefix servername not found

Hi,

I'm trying to configure the mirroring of an azure database in Microsoft Fabric.
I've followed the tutorial for configuring the managed identity and setting up a user on the base. No problem at all.
When I want to configure replication, I can connect to the database and see the tables that can be replicated. But when I validate to activate mirroring, I get this error message:
"PowerBI user with prefix servername not found."

Has anyone encountered this problem and, if so, do you have a solution?
Thanks for your help.

I found the solution.
I had simply forgotten to enable "the Fabric tenant setting Allow service principals to user Power BI APIs."

I am having the same issue, cannot mirror the database.

STEPS

  1. I goto Data Warehouse |
  2. Select "Mirrored Azure SQL Database" |
  3. Give the connection string |
  4. Click Connect |
  5. Click Create Mirrored Database |
  6. After that I get this error "Unable to grant required permission to the source server. PowerBI user with prefix stag2020 not found."
  7. Here stag2020 is my server name

Things already tried

1. In Tenant Settings | Mirroring is Enabled

2. In Azure SQL Server, system identity is enabled

Can you please help me resolve this.

Hi @ClinDev ,

Have you checked the prerequisites and in particular the activation of “the Fabric tenant setting Allow service principals to user Power BI APIs.” in the “developer” settings of the Fabric administration portal?

Hi,

You were right, this setting was off, I have enabled it now and retried. Now I get a new error

Request failed with 409(Conflict): {"error":{"code":"PowerBIMetadataArtifactDisplayNameInUseException","pbi.error":{"code":"PowerBIMetadataArtifactDisplayNameInUseException","details":[{"code":"PowerBIMetadataArtifactDisplayNameNotAvailableYetException","detail":{"type":1,"value":"The DisplayName is not available yet."}}],"exceptionCulprit":1}}}, requestid: 7f247ba5-e36d-9168-c242-b2cb270b2dc5
