PowerBI refresh summary

Hi Friends,

Under 'Admin Portal' ->'Capacity setting'->'Refresh Summary', I don't see anything there? where is the 'switch' to show it? or it's permission/license related?

Thanks a lot!

Click on Capacity Settings, If you dont see any Premium Capacities in the list, then you are not an admin.

Good day. I also try to watch how to download the refresh history of reports in power bi service via admin portal. But it was empty. Could someone tells me, the license must be Premium for it? I have Pro license.

Thank you.

unfortunately, the refresh summary section in the power bi admin portal is only for premium/dedicated capacity. It will not show refreshes for report on workspace with shared capacity (ie Pro)

Another option is to check the Monitor section, but it will only shows what you have access to.

@Tutu_in_YYC

Where can I find that information?

Hey @River ,

I think that @Tutu_in_YYC is correct - only the Admin can see this.  The quickest and easiest way (in my mind) is to go to Admin Portal and Workspaces and sort by Capacity and that will tell you.  But, if you really want to know what is refreshing where and what capacity it uses, the best data comes from the API calls.

@collinq To run Rest API, one needs Power BI admin role. Are there APIs where you can run w/o having the role?

Hey @Tutu_in_YYC ,

Well....technically, yes.  But, realistically, no.  If you have the "Capacity" permissions you can run API against the capacity.  "This API call can be called by a service principal profile. For more information see: Service principal profiles in Power BI Embedded. The profile creator must have capacity permissions."

But, realistically, if you have capacity permissions, you likely have admin.

Thanks @collinq That helps!

Hey River,
Are you a capacity admin ( or Power BI Admin)? I think only capacity admin can see the refreshes using that capacity.
