PowerBI desktop hanging while adding new data set for existing report.
Hi Team,
New version of PowerBI desktop hanging while adding new data set for existing report. Not even responding after 5 to 10 minutes.
Need help or any suggestion.

Can you please make sure that you have got the latest version of power bi desktop installed and try again?

After reviewing the details you provided, I have identified few workarounds that may help resolve the issue. Please follow these Points:
Disable column profiling in Power Query (Column quality, distribution, and profile).Turn off background data preview under Options > Data Load.
Use Performance Analyzer to identify slow queries or visuals.
Clear Power BI cache/workspace folders from AppData.
Reinstall or update Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime.
Test the PBIX file on an earlier stable version like March 2025.
