PowerBI Service direct query report refresh

Hello,

I've created report using Direct Query storage mode and published it to PowerBI Service.

On this page (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/desktop-directquery-about ) it is stated that:

  • Opening an existing report or authoring a new report in the Power BI service queries the underlying data source to retrieve the necessary data. Depending upon the location of the original data source, it might be necessary to configure an on-premises data gateway to get the data.

However, when I open report in PowerBI Service I don't see the new data. It is still showing cached data. Why my report data is not refreshing? At Workspace view I see that report is refreshed some time ago, but not exactly when it was last opened by me. What that refresh time means? It is all really confusing...

I do understand that automatic report refresh is limited to 30 min interval as described here https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/desktop-automatic-page-refresh but I still expect that report is refreshed when user open it manually at any time.

Regards,

RK
