So I'm using a tab cycler to put up a few reports on a big T.V in our office and I set up the 30 min interval of report refreshing on each report and all of them uses a gateway. But the reports aren't refreshing every 30 minutes, could you tell me possibly why this happens ?
Solved! Go to Solution.
I used Google Chrome and an Extension called Revolver that cycles through the tabs but Revolver also has a feature to refresh the page before every cycle which fixed my problem. Thanks for the advice everyone
Hi @Waynes
Are you using a laptop/notebook which goes into sleep mode when its time for refresh?
https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-personal-gateway/
On a laptop computer - In order for a scheduled refresh to occur, the gateway needs to be up and running. Laptop computers are usually shut down or asleep more than they’re running. If you install your gateway on a laptop, be sure to set your scheduled refresh times for when the laptop will be running. If it isn’t, the refresh will not be attempted again until the next scheduled refresh time.
On a desktop computer – Not many issues here. Just make sure the computer and the gateway is running at your scheduled refresh times. Many desktop computers go to sleep, scheduled refresh cannot occur if it’s asleep.
Thanks for the insightful response, the computer is not sleeping as we need it running on the T.V the whole day, and the gateway is constantly running and says that it did infact refresh the data set. It is working on my own Computer, the only differences are I'm on Chrome and the T.V is on Firefox and the T.V is running fullscreen. Going to try install Chrome on the T.V and see if that's the problem
Hi @Waynes, not sure if this applies and wether you're on Premium or not, but are you using Import mode with Scheduled refresh? Then you're limited to 8 refreshes a day per dataset. It could be that you're hitting that limit (in about 4 hours in the day 😀).
Could you please clarify?
Did this help you or did I answer your question?
Then please give kudos or mark my post as a solution!
