Our org is using both Powerapps and Power BI with great success. After several attempts to integrate PowerApps into existing PowerBI reports, I encountered the following, unrelated issues. Apologies in advance as this is going to be rather long.
Hope someone can shed some light...
- Tablet version vs phone
If I add the PowerApps tile to a report and follow the prompts to create an app, PA service automatically creates a "phone" canvas app. There is no way to then convert it to tablet afterwards. Is that by design or am I missing something?
- Fixed fields from PBI
Once I select fields to pass to the app from PBI, are those fields permanently set or is there a way to add/remove some of them if I want to use them in the PowerApp?
- Unable to properly link existing app
I atttempted to connect a report to an existing app, but was not able to pass any of the PowerBI data fields to the app. Is that a known limitation or is there something that I'm missing?
- Refreshing the dataset
After successfully adding a "phone" canvas app to a PBI report, I managed to get it to update the field in SQL Table. Very simple two page app. Select item from the gallery, go to screen with Edit Form, select Submit Form after adjusting value and return back to original Gallery. For whatever reason, the adjusted value does not update in the Gallery even though it appears to be a live connection...
- Switching dataset to Direct Query vs Import
I have a sneaking suspicion that this question is the answer to the one above, but here goes. I have a table with a number of columns that is currently setup to Import from SQL. I deleted and readded as a Direct Query = > for some reason Power BI throws an error while connecting to it. I'm connected to a single SQL Database for this report. Can I setup select tables as direct and leave others as import or is that a setting for the whole connection?
