Power bi visuals cannot load the data

Hello All,

I am currently trying out this new feature in Power Bi called Power Bi Datamarts. I have built a datamart whose source is Oracle DB. I have created a blank report out of datamart, downloaded it from Service and made appropriate changes in the report in the Desktop version. For making changes at the Desktop level the file asked me to convert it to a local model which I did. After making the changes I republished the report and I can see it properly. To test the reports I have added few users in the Workspace with View access but none of them are able to view the reports as it says Power Bi could not load the data into visuals.

I have the admin rights but I am not sure what is going here and why are the end users not able to view the reports. Can anyone guide me where I might have went wrong.

Thank You,

GP

Hi @gp_12 ,

Pro license users will not be able to view the content from PPU capacity wrokspace is right, but the data mart is in the preview state.

A lot of the functionality is not yet complete, and you may be able to help in the following official documentation: Control access to datamarts (preview) - Power BI | Microsoft Learn and Administration of datamarts (preview) - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

Also this topic may face the similiar problem: Datamarts: Cannot load a table from a datamart int... - Microsoft Fabric Community

Finally I think you can use other features in Power BI Service, maybe they will bring you an amazing effect.

Datamarts are not a new feature. They are still "in preview"  but that likely means they will be dropped soon in favor of the equivalent Fabric offering.

Did you give your users access to the datamart?

@lbendlin  I have given the users View access with build

Hi @gp_12 ,

Just as you mentioned, you have already added users to the workspace and assigned them permissions, I think you can check the following relevant things.

Firstly, you need to make sure your workspace has a premium capacity and the guests to your workspace with at least a Pro license.

If the users have the "View" permission, as I test, you can let them click on the Explore this data(preview) or you can share it with them.

@Anonymous The capacity is Premium per user and the end users have PPU license as well. I have shared the reports with build permissions.

One thing I would like to mention is when I downloaded the report , I created a calendar table at desktop and then republished the report into workspace so it created a new semantic model but datamart was kept same.

Hi @gp_12 ,

Since data mart is still in the preview stage and a lot of things are still under development, it's possible that PPU won't be able to fulfill the above requirements. It's better to have Pro license.

For what you mentioned, I think the semantic model inside the report is separate from inside the data mart, if you want to modify the data mart you can only do it inside the data mart so that you can change the data itself. The semantic model is the layer that defines relationships, calculations, metrics and data hierarchies, that is why it is updated on re-releases. The data mart acts as a data storage component and is not changed unless the data itself is updated or modified.

@Anonymous oh okay, I will take care of the sematic layer hereafter, but Pro license users will not be able to view the content from PPU capacity wrokspace, So will that work
