Power Point Embed links & bookmarks
We are embedding live PBI Service report pages within a Power Point presentation. There are 3 ways to accomplish this as documented here. They all provide the same end result but the link urls differ. I have a question around the link bookmarkGuid.
Using the 'share > copy link' and selecting 'Include my Changes' the info icon states that the bookmarked page will expire after 180 days.
Using the 'Export>Power Point>Embed live data' option also has the option 'embed report with the data filters selected' option that also creates a link that looks different but does also have a bookmarkGuid. However it makes no mention of this expiring after 180 days.
Finally using the PBI add-in from within PPT to navigate to the PBI Service content allows filters to be changed but does not show the link so it is not clear whether this uses a bookmark.
So my question is do all 3 methods result in a bookmark link which will expire in 180 days? If the ppt is viewed after this period will the add-in error and not display anything (or will it revert to the default filters state)?
If we embed the report/visual with no custom filters applied (ie. in default state) will the link remain valid indefinitely (provided the report remains published on the service).
I can't find more detailed documentation on this subject.
Thanks for any guidance, Andrew
Hi AndrewLockett ,
As per my knowledge every time when you access the report expiration date is reset to 180 days. And I think it will apply to only bookmarked pages.
Thanks,
