Power Bi shared capacity refresh limit

Hi there.

I know that the Power Bi shared capacity refresh limit is set to 8 daily refreshes, as described here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/refresh-data#:~:text=Power%20BI%20limits%20da....

However, what I fail to understand is whether this limit (8 daily refreshes) is meant on a per dataset basis or that this limit is meant for ALL datasets combined used in the shared capacity.

Any good clarification is welcome. Thanks for your time and explanation.

Cheers,

Marnix Wolf

Hi @mwolf007

The limit of 8 scheduled refreshes on a Pro licence is per Dataset. So, for example, you could have 5 Datasets in a Workspace, each being automatically refreshed up to 8 times per day, a total of 40 refreshes per day for the data in that Workspace.

Remember that the limit of 8 refreshes per dataset is only applied to scheduled refreshes. You can run as many manual refreshes , done by clicking "refresh now" on the dataset as you want, they do not count towards the 8. Also refreshes triggered through Power Automate "Flow" do count towards the 8 per day.

Effectively, if you have to click or do a manual procedure to refresh, it is not counted towards the limit of 8. The limit of 8 automated refreshes applies on a Per Dataset basis.

Hope this helps

This is false. Refreshes done in Power Automate are made via API call, which count towards the number of allotted refreshes per day.
