I have built a paginated report in the paginated report builder.
The report has a power query getting data from a sharepoint list.
When the report is viewed on the service, or when embedded by a user other than me it shows the error:
"Credentials are required to connect to the SharePoint source"
I've tried to update the credentials on the report but it's greyed out:
Both users with read/view only access to the SP list, and owners of the site the list is located in get this same error.
What is causing this? what access is required to have the paginated report query from a SharePoint list?
I have notced when viewing the power query in te report builder i need to re-authenticate very time.
I've also tried publishing the same report from an account that only has view access to te list, but in this case all users get the error above.
Hi, @WernerOtto
Based on your description, you can use the links below to find information about connection credentials.
1. Ensure that the authentication method used in your Power BI report for accessing the SharePoint list is supported and correctly configured. For SharePoint Online List, using a Service Principal is a recommended approach as it provides a secure and scalable way to access SharePoint data.
Set up your SharePoint Online List connection - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn
2. Verify that the Service Principal or the account used for accessing the SharePoint list has the necessary permissions. It needs to have at least read access to the SharePoint list. If you are using a Service Principal, ensure that it has been granted permission to access the SharePoint site and list.
Configure SharePoint Online List in a copy activity - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn
3. When publishing your report to the Power BI service, ensure that the credentials for the SharePoint list are correctly set up in the dataset settings within the Power BI service. Since you mentioned the credentials option is greyed out, this might indicate a permissions issue within the Power BI service or a problem with how the dataset was configured.
