Power Bi dataset showed refresh but new data not showing

Hi All,

I got one report, data import from SQL user table, all working fine (refresh ok) from the desktop. It was previously publish to the PBI service, all the gateway setings are correct (as all other reports are working fine).  Data set for this report can be refreshed mannually or by schedule. However the new data just not turned up (still showing last year's data but the usertable in SQL only have current year data) after the refresh complete in PBI service. SQL usertable working fine, this report working fine from the desktop as menetioned. I have tried to clear cache from desktop, but problem still remains.

Please kindly help with this, instead of delete the whole lot and upload again, just want to know the root cause as it may be a risk for all other dashboard.

Many Thanks!

are you sharing through the workspace or through the app?

through the workspace, the PBI service data set showed refreshed successfully,

In my table, File year after refresh still shows 2022 which should be 2023, If I download the same report from web, refresh from desktop, file year will bounce back to 2023. I've tried to take the report and data set off and upload as a new file, but samething remains. Thanks.

Disable scheduled refresh.  Publish from Power BI Desktop to the workspace.  Check the report in the workspace.

If this contains the latest data, run an ad-hoc request in the service.  Check the report again.  If the data reverted then you have something in your Power Query (for example parameters) that causes this behavior.

Thanks for the guidance. Unfortunately the issue still remains, source table only contains 2023 data, but seems like the report on PBI service is reading from cache (I have clear the cache from PBI desktop). Just wondering if this could be anything to do with the next level infrastructure? Thanks.

Might be your browser. Use Incognito mode.

I'm working with the Microsoft support on this issue at the moment. Something very interesting in my case is, once setup the gateway for the report,  refresh the dataset, data will revert to previous year. Tried remove the old set, publish as new name in different workspace. Absolutely no issue on desktop.
