Power Bi Report with semantic model failed to retrieve more than 30000 rows

Dear @power Bi Team and @rajendraongole1 ,

Need your expert inputs on this recurring issue.

We have developed Power BI reports with Fabric Lakehouse and Warehouse table as data source, the reports are getting failed to retrieve more than 30k rows while exporting to excel.

We tried paginated reports as well with the same semantic model but still issue is same i.e. not giving more than 30K rows.

Multiple support requests were raised with MS, till today no helpful resolution provided by MS.

Expert thoughts on this issue matter here will help our day to day power bi production business reports.

Regards,

Rajesh

did you check the section "Considerations and Limitations" in this article: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/visuals/power-bi-visualization-export-data?tabs=powerbi-d....

Just to be clear, you see all the data in your data visualization right?

 Hi @RajeshGopu
Thank you for reaching out Microsoft fabric community forum.

CSV Export: In some cases, exporting data as a CSV file may provide more flexibility for handling larger datasets compared to Excel. Switching to the CSV format might help bypass certain row limitations that Excel imposes.

               Steps to Export as CSV:

    1. In Power BI Service, navigate to the report you wish to export.
    2. Click on the ellipsis ("...") menu.
    3. Select Export data and choose the CSV format for the export.

Increasing Export Limits in Power BI Service (for Premium Users):

If your organization is utilizing Power BI Premium (or Premium Per User), you can take advantage of enhanced export capabilities that allow for larger datasets to be exported.

Higher Export Limits: Premium capacities typically support larger data exports, with the ability to export up to 1 million rows. These export limits can be configured within Power BI Service settings for reports and datasets.

Large Dataset Export: Power BI Premium offers a Large Dataset Export feature, which enables users to download larger datasets for specific reports, overcoming the row export limitations.

Steps to Enable Premium Export Options:

    1. Ensure that your workspace is assigned to a Premium capacity.
    2. In the Power BI Admin Portal, review the Export data settings and confirm that the Premium export options are enabled for your reports.

Hi @RajeshGopu ,

Considering the limitations shared by @TomMartens , workaround would be to try out the filters and slicers to limit the data based on condition such as month, year or a particular category.

Thanks,

Pallavi

Hi @TomMartens ,

We can see all the data in power bi visual but while exporting its not giving more than 30K. While developing the paginated report with a semantic model which is having more than 30k at initial step itself it is getting failed with error showing "The maximum number of rows (30000) was reached."
