Power Bi Pro license usage
Hi all, Not sure in which location to place this question, but here goes. We have a number of Power Bi pro licenses assigend to users (obviously), but where can we monitor if the assigned users ...
- 6 years agoHi there
What I have done is to download the Power BI Audit Logs.
From that I can then see who has used Power BI, and from that determine how long they have been inactive for.
Which I can then determine my own number of days before I take back the Power BI License.

Is it possible to retrieve a list of all users that consume the Power BI Pro license.
- If so, can we also have a statistic that will show if the Power BI Pro license is being used by them – means to check if they do any Power BI development work.
We have users consuming E5 licenses which includes Power BI Pro as well as users with an E3 license with the Power BI add-on.

a couple of options here:
- From within power bi you can view the usage metrics to monitor use within power bi
- Besides that from O365 admin center, on the users page, you can add a view to filter on power bi pro licenses. using the view gives a quick insight into the number of licenses.
- as mentioned by someone else, you can use the audit logs. follow through form the power bi admin center, it will lead you to the O365 audit logs page. these go back (i believe) 90 days and are somewhat limited in options. still quite a few choices to filter but not everything.
- if i'm correct you can get all the activity logs from the azure portal, this requires certain tenant privilages/rights.
