Power Bi Dashboards on TV

Hi,

I am looking for the lowest cost option to achieve the following.

We have one Power Bi report with 3 dashboards/tabs. once for each department. We would like to display these and auto refresh on 3 separate tvs. One tv will display each tab.

Thanks.

Hello @lhuynh ,

If you have no licence/ free licence(not upgraded as trial licence) you can only publish to "my workspace".  You can publish reports to "my workspace" or create dashboards in your "my workspace". Because you are not able to create workspaces such as Pro, PPU, Premium or Fabric.

"My workspace" is the area that you can only see reports and dashboards not others.

But if you have Pro Licence and you are able to create Pro Licence workspace. İf you give workspace access to the your colleague that needs also pro license too. They can observe your reports. ( Even you publish Power BI Apps)

But if you have PPU Licence and you are able to create PPU Licence workspace. Your colleague does need to license if you publish reports to Power BI Apps.

I know OP's question is already marked as solved, but sharing here for folks still stumbling onto this thread who need a solution:

A good way to achieve this is by using digital signage software that integrates with Power BI. You can assign each department's tab to a different TV and set them to auto-refresh and display in full-screen mode. This ensures the dashboards stay updated and easy to view on your TVs. And it should work as long as you've got a working Microsoft login & Power BI workspace.

Here’s a guide on how to set up Power BI dashboards on screens - it might be helpful! https://www.fugo.ai/fugo/en/articles/7119702-power-bi-app-guide

Hello @lhuynh,

Most of the time report published Pro / Premium / Fabric workspace and after that reports publish to Power BI app that gives ability to share report to stakeholders and not to your workspace(İf you don't your stakeholders wants to see your workspace).

But, it seems you want to do that lowest cost. İf your tv is login with your user to PBI Service(No licence) that you have dashboard and report in your workspace. But there is no option to refresh your semantic model. İf you want to refresh also your semantic model you need at least pro licence.

İf you are looking for auto web refresh(Because when semantic model refresh web refresh needs to be refresh otherwise you can't see latest data otherwise your dashboard is not real-time dashboard) that I've shared medium post about so you can follow the link to follow more details information about Aut target=_blank target=_blank target=_blank target=_blank target=_blankomate Web Page Refresh in P...

You have 3 option of lowest cost:

1. No licence ( İf your semantic model refresh doesn't require)

2. Pro licence( Semantic model can be refresh if gateway created. But if you want to see only workspace report, dashboard and your tv's log in the user that have the dashboard and report in the workspace)

3. Premium per user(Semantic model can be refresh if gateway created. İf workspace is private. You can publish to PBI APP. And other users can be seen the reports. (other user needs alsoRequired license)

I might add that i am on a pro licence and also need the ability to cycle between the dashboard and images. I dont no need anything full of features. just dashboard and image rotation capability. Similar to a shop front display.

Hello @lhuynh,

Hi. Even though you can do it for free publishing at the "My Workspace" of a work account with Fabric Free license, then best would be using at least a Power Bi Pro account in a Separeted workspace in order to avoid the account dependancy. That way you can make sure that the workspace will contain the development. The license can change, users too, but the development will be there.

Remember that when working with pro, readers and builders require a pro license.

I hope that helps,

Hi Gökberk,

Sorry I am very new to this. If the Microsoft account we used to publish the dashboard is a free licence and then shared with another account that is on a Pro Licence and I use the link for the report from the shared account. would this be the reason why we cannot display the report in signage software?

Would i need upgrade the free account to a Pro lic, publish and authenticate in the singa software with the pro lic account?
