Power BI

Hi Team,

I have a Power BI report builder report built connecting to Power Bi dataset. Both the reports(Power BI report builder and power bi desktop) are published on the same workspace and then published to the same App in power bi service. Now when I select the parameters in power bi report builder and view the report and then switch to power bi report and navigate back again(to power bi report builder report). The previous selection of the parameters gets reset and report is blank again. Can we persist with the selection when we navigate back?

Looking for your suggestion. Please advise.

Thanks

Sagar

Hi @Sagarkumar,

It's possible to persist the selection of parameters in Power BI Report Builder even when navigating between reports. This can be achieved by enabling the "Bookmarking" feature in Power BI.

Bookmarking allows you to save the current state of the report, including filters, slicers, and other visuals. You can then create a bookmark for that state and give it a name. When you navigate away from the report and then come back, you can simply select the bookmark to restore the report to its previous state.

To enable bookmarking in Power BI Report Builder, follow these steps:

  1. Open your report in Power BI Report Builder.
  2. Click the "View" tab in the ribbon.
  3. Click the "Bookmarks" button in the "Visualizations" section.
  4. Click the "Add" button to create a new bookmark.
  5. Give the bookmark a name and click "OK".
  6. Make any selections or changes to the report that you want to persist.
  7. Click the "View" tab in the ribbon again.
  8. Click the "Bookmarks" button and then click the bookmark you just created to save the current state of the report.

Now, when you navigate away from the report and then come back, you can simply select the bookmark you created to restore the report to its previous state, including any parameter selections that were made.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.

Best regards,

Hi @ichavarria

Thankyou so much for your response.

I think the solution you suggested would work in Power Bi desktop.

I have 2 reports- one built in power bi desktop and other one is in power bi report builder. The dataset used to build the Power bi report builder  is  the same power bi desktop dataset.

Everything is fine till here.

I am facing the issue when both this reports are published in the same App in Power BI service and then when we switch between the reports using the app in the service, the parameters gets reset once we switch between the screen. My requirement is to have the previous selected value to be present( the selection would be different based on user selection) when we switch back on the Power Bi report buillder report from the normal Power BI report.

Thankyou in advance.

Regards,

Sagar
