Power BI service automatically creating dashboard version of .pbix file

I am having an issue with the Power BI service automatically creating a "Dashboard" version of my .pbix file when I upload to a Workspace. Ideally, I only want the Dataset and Report file types to be crated when I upload this file so that the users are directed to the Report type instead of clicking on the Dashboard file type.

Hi @TheFerg ,

This thread is almost a year old now but I just ran across it as all of a sudden this exact same thing is happening to me.  I am wondering if you ever got a resolution to this issue?  If not, I think I will open a ticket as I do not see anything in my internet searches.

Hi @collinq

We are just migrating to a new Power Bi environment and we are also for the first time now seeing the 'Dashboard' files created for each of our datasets.

Did you find a resolution to stop these from appearing?

Thanks

Hey @MarkSL ,

Nobody ever helped me figure this out.  I still don't like it!

hi @collinq

Thanks for coming back to me.  I've realised the cause for us...

In our new PBI environment we were temporarily having to upload reports using the 'Upload' button in the workspace and browsing for the pbix file to upload.  When doing this, these unwanted Dashboard files were being created.

We have now fixed a credentials issue which was preventing us from Publishing from Desktop and now the 3rd file is no longer getting created.

Are you using the 'Upload' button in the service?
