Power BI in Page Viewer Web Part

I am using the Page Viewer Web Part to display a report in a Classic Sharepoint Page, I can successfully embed but I need to filter the report for infdividual sites. When I use query string parameters in the URL, I get an error "app.high.powerbigov.us refused to connect". These are MS Project Server workspaces so I cannot use a modern page and the Power BI Web Part since the modern page cannot be saved as a template and mapped to an EPT.  Any help is certainly appreciated...

  • I had the same thought and just to confirm our suspicions, I did the same thing in my comercial Power BI environment and got the same result "app.powerbi.com refused to connect". I also made sure the sites were added to the HTML Security Field settings in Sharepoint. Any other thoughts?

      Hi FlyEaglesFly

Yeah that is to be expected because you cannot use the front end PBI service to embed into another application. If you wanted to embed you would need to use Power BI Embedded?

Ok, so I'm back at square one and the original issue, how do I filter a Power BI report using the Page Viewer Web Part (or any web part) in a classic Sharepoint Page? I have successfully embeded using all three Power BI options (Sharepoint Online, Website or Portal, Publish to Web) and have used the URL and iFrame options with the Page Viewer, Content Editor and Script Editor Web Parts, they work... The problem with embed is it defaults to the report default and anyone using the page has to select from the project dropdown each time they hit the page. I am not stuck with the Page Viewer Web Part as the only option though I prefered it to the other two because of appearence, I am open to any solutions that will allow me to filter a Power BI report using any web part in a classic Sharepoint page.

  • Hi FlyEaglesFly

I have known that there sometimes are differences when using GOV sites in Power BI due to more restrictions in place.

I am not sure what else to look for.
