Power BI feature 'Publish to web' export to Excel/CSV?

Hi Power BI Community,

Previously, none/Excel of the export features were available for 'Publish to web'.

Can someone confirm if that is still true? Is the export to Excel or CSV from 'Publish to web' available?

This must be a simple and default feature that Power BI team should provide, anyways.

Thanks for your insight!

Hi. You can not export to excel from a Publish To Web report and you won't in the future. The idea of microsoft is giving some small security to the public link it generates avoiding the export to collect data from the report.

The export to excel will only be available in the Power Bi Service and Embed link Code (with login access) for Power Bi Pro Users.

Hope that helps,

@ibarrau Thanks for your reply and confirming the feature does not have the export option.

If the reports are meant for Public (which can shared anywhere and anyone), then why it should have small security and why not give them export option.

My guess is that Microsoft takes seriously the security. They will let you do public visualizations with summarized data to show, but taking the data exported to play as source is a completely different thing that can be used for a lot of things.

Regards,
