Power BI fabric can update report with databricks data

We have recently moved to a databricks environment.

We were able to set up all of our reports offline, working fine with databricks but when uploading to fabric we can't schedule a refresh as we get an error with credentials

An exception occurred: DataSource.Error: ODBC: ERROR [HY000] [Microsoft][ThriftExtension] (14) Unexpected response from server during HTTP connection: Bad Status: Unrecognized response:HTTP/1.1 302 Found.

could it be that we dont have unity catalog enabled?

Hi @andrew_14 ,
Thanks to @SaiTejaTalasila and @GilbertQ reply.
Based on your description and the error message provided, first, make sure that Databricks workspaces are enabled for Unity Catalog. This is a prerequisite for securely managing and accessing data across Databricks workspaces.
Second, ensure that Power BI Fabric is properly connected to the Databricks environment. This includes verifying that the Databricks cluster is running and that the connection has been configured with the correct Databricks cluster URL and access token.
Then, if using Azure Data Lake Storage with Databricks, ensure that credential pass-through is enabled for the cluster. This feature allows for more seamless authentication to the data source without having to hard-code the credentials.

Hi @andrew_14 ,

It looks you need set-up a Vnet gateway to resolve it.

You can refer this community thread's for more details

Thanks,

Hi @andrew_14

That could well be the issue, is this error shown from within Fabric or Databricks?

Power BI Blog

It is shown in fabric when trying to edit credentials which for some reason are not valid and as a result you cant schedule refresh
