Power BI embedded pricing

Hello Power BI lovers.

I have this requirement which I cannot get an asnwer for yet.

Here's what we want to implement:

  1. Create some management reports for some main users of a small bank - extracing data from an Azure SQL database. We think to use Power BI Desktop to design the reports and Power BI service to Publish the reports
  2. We have another sets of reports which Regulatory and want to use Power Bi Embedded version for this. The application is in written in Angular and want to connect to Azure SQL Database and build reports from there. We are using Private End Point to connect to Azure SQL database and so far we have not found way yet to find a PBI license which is reasonable cheap to but the only PBI license is P1 which $4,995.00 a month and this is too expa=expensive. Somehow we can't find a cheaper price the way we want to implement it.
  3. We have looked into Pbi docs and even called MSFT and still could not help us what we are trying to do.
  4. The number os user would 4-5 max users so are thinking have 5 users licnese of Premium Per user ($20) per meonth for PBI service for Management reports and for Power BI embedded we are stuck as the bak cannot agree to $5k a month for few basic reports (Regulatory Reports).
  5. what license can we use which is reasonable price but allows us to access the azure sql database sql database through private end points of this database.

Any help will be useful.

Thanks

I still have not got any replies to come close to what I am asking.

I need Pbi embedded license (A1 ) for example to allow the pbi to access azure sql database using azure private endpoint.

This is it.

My question is:

  • what price option do I chose (Power Bi Embedded) using Power BI Premium Capacity which allows to access Azure SQL database using Private EndPoint?

The current solution that we found is to take $4,995 per month. This is will be minimal that it allows.

We do not want azure sql database to access by allowing Network to be public (we want the resources to be accessed through Private EndPoint).

Hi @xgm2109 ,

Thanks for the reply from @SaiTejaTalasila , please allow me to provide another insight:

You can use this table to know the most cost-effective licence that will meet your requirements.

If you really need an embedded licence, you can choose to contact sales or opt for hourly rates.

Thanks for your reply.

I am the Power BI admin.

It's me that I have to make a decision but I don't have enough information to ask the bank to commit $5k bill. The bank will not pay for this as is not worth while for them.

We need someway to have some Power BI premium license which serves few users and able to connect to PBI embedded version using PrivateEndPoint of the azure sql database.

I need some help with this.

Either contact or someone who can help me and talk through the options.

Thank you

Hi @xgm2109 ,

If any one owns premium capacity in your organisation you can save a lot of amount and the price clearly depends on your discussion like some people will charge based on users or usage they won't ask 5k .

For reserved capacities the price will be different please contact Microsoft sales team.(For premium p1capacity the price will be around 42k USD per year or you can check with them)

Thanks,

Sai Teja

Hi @xgm2109 ,

First you need to contact your power bi tenant admin (your power bi support team). They will be knowing whether any of the division's/projects in your company owns premium capacities. Then you can contact those premium capacity owners and talk with them.If you are ready to pay the cross charge amount mostly they will allow.

Thanks,

Sai Teja
