Power BI dataset Refresh failure notification when we do refresh from Power Automate flow

Problem Proposition:

In order to receive a notification if the refresh of the Power BI data is fails, we must set up a Power automate flow.

Additionally, we built up a flow in Power Automate to start the dataset update every 15 minutes.

the flows were set up in the same way.

After clicking configure run, we did as follows.

But I didn't get any notifications after the Failed Dataset Refresh.

Please advise me if I missed anything regarding the flows or a decent strategy.

Thanks

The reason you're not getting a notification is because the "Run After" action isn't checking whether the dataset refresh failed in Power BI, it's only checking if the previous step in Power Automate failed. As far as Power Automate is concerned, it successfully told Power BI to refresh the dataset, so it does not execute the "Run After" action.

Here's an article from PowerBI.tips which explains how to achieve the result you're going for. Fair warning: It requires a Power Automate Premium license.

Hi @Samba777ravuri ,

It seems like you have set up the Power Automate flows correctly.

To troubleshoot this issue, you can try the following steps:

1.Check the refresh history of your dataset to see if there are any errors or warnings.

2. Make sure that the credentials you're using to refresh the dataset are still valid and have not expired.

3. Check the connection settings for the data source to ensure that they are correct and up-to-date.

4. Verify that the notification settings in your Power Automate flow are configured correctly and that the correct email address is being used to receive notifications.

5. Check the refresh failure email checkbox was  checked in the Settings.

6.Check the email was sent to your spam folder or blocked by your email exchange server.
