Power BI backup solution

Do you know a good Power BI Backup solution for our customer?
Our preference leans toward a SaaS solution.
Thanks

  • Hey Gerelyn67 ,

A good SaaS backup solution for Power BI is Keepit, which provides cloud-to-cloud backup specifically designed for Microsoft services. It can automatically back up Power BI workspaces, reports, datasets, and dashboards and allows easy recovery if something is deleted or corrupted. Another option is Arcserve SaaS Backup, which also supports Power BI along with other Microsoft workloads and offers automated backups and granular restore capabilities. If the customer prefers a tool focused mainly on Power BI, Ebiexperts Active Backup for Power BI is another good choice that provides version history and restore options for reports, datasets, and dataflows. All three are SaaS-based and help ensure Power BI content can be recovered in case of accidental deletion or changes.

🛡Ebiexperts Active Backup for Power BI provides continuous backup and restore for Power BI & Microsoft Fabric assets, including reports, datasets, workspaces, pipelines, notebooks, and more.

Unlike Git integration or limited restore points, our solution is designed for real backup & recovery scenarios:
    Continuous protection
Fast restore of deleted or modified assets
    Retention flexibility
Support for Fabric & Power BI environments
    Simple deployment through Microsoft Marketplace

Because backup should not be a workaround — it should be a built-in safety net.

Hi MohdZaid_ thanks for the referal, but just to correct this Active Backup can process all kinds of items in Fabric not only reports and datasets.

  • Hi Gerelyn67 ,

I am sure that there are many third party tools out there with varying levels of capabilities.  However, if you use OneDrive or SharePoint you can just use the capabilities of what you probably already own.  Or, you can use your Network file shares.  I won't bother you with a bunch of links because there are so many about how to use SharePoint or OneDrive or Network shares and you may have some nuances that you need to use in your search.

Or, you could even use Github or Azure Dev Ops for backups.  Git can store data and change history of if you implement it.  Or, you can even use the REST API backup.  (Reports - REST API (Power BI Power BI REST APIs) | Microsoft Learn)
