Power BI Workspace Organization

Having extensively used Power BI Report Server, our organization is now utilizing the Power BI Workspace (professional license). We are currently in the planning phase and have the service and license but have not given access to the greater organization yet.

I have a quick question on workspace organization. In the Power BI Report Server world we are able to create different server environments for Development, Unit Acceptance Testing, and production. On each instance we are able to create different folders and subfolders according to different business units and products. eg: Home -> Finance -> Purchasing -> 2022 Reports

With workspace I am able to create 1 but have not seen away to organize it according to environments (DEV, UAT, PROD) and business units and their projects. Is there a way to organize it so it can be navigated through different levels?

The alternative would be to name the workspace accordingly. eg: DEV-Finance-Purachasing-2022 Reports

However, the names could get very long and then we would have to sift through potentially multiple workspaces. Any advice on how to organize Power BI workpaces in a corporate enterprise environment would be greatly appreciated.

Best would be following the naming convention that you given as eg DEV-Finance-Purachasing-2022 Reports
Also I would suggest to limit number of users who can create the workspace to manage this easily.

Hi,

As of today, to handle different environment in Power BI service, you need to play with different workspaces by providing proper naming convention. We dont have other options to handle this.

Thanks

Hari
