Power BI Subscriptions Schedule

I have a few reports on which subscriptions are enabled to send an email every night at around 9 with a specific report page.

At the moment 3 of my subscriptions are acting up. Some users don't receive anything anymore, other's occasionally will receive 1 of the 3. When I execute these subscriptions manually there is no issue and all users receive their mail.

The issue is only prevalent when using the schedule...

I have already verified that subscriptions are allowed in my tenant and that the end date in which to send the subscriptions isn't passed yet.

Any ideas?

Hi,

  • The users indeed still have a Pro License
  • The data is 'refreshing' correctly because the reports are using either live connection or direct query. And the data always is up to date.
  • I checked the spam and quarantine and didn't see the emails there.
  • Also tested creating new subscriptions at other times and the same issues happens.

Is this behaviour maybe logged some where I can check ?

Hi,

Admins can access audit logs, these at least monitor creating/modifying/deleting subscriptions but I'm not aware of anything more in-depth than that (like failed subscriptions etc.). Track user activities in Power BI - Power BI | Microsoft Docs ,

I do see a limitation in the documentation page here (Subscribe others to your reports and dashboards - Power BI | Microsoft Docs) which mentions: "Currently, email subscriptions for reports and dashboards using live connection datasets aren't supported when subscribing users other than yourself..." . Perhaps that could be the culprit.

Hi,

Probably already looked at some of these but here's some things that may be worth checking out:

  • Do the users (still) have a Pro or premium licence?
  • In case you are running the subscription based on the "After data refresh" frequency, is the data source  correctly refreshing?
  • Are the subscriptions perhaps being blocked or going into spam folders?
  • You could test setting the subscription on a different time. Deliveries could take longer due to demand peaks.

Considerations subscriptions: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-report-subscribe#considerations-...

Regards,

Tim
