Power BI Service

Is there any way we can make power bi reports deployed using deployment pipelines downloadable?

  • Hi Rosy081

No, Power BI reports deployed using Deployment Pipelines in Power BI Service cannot be directly downloaded as .pbix files. Deployment Pipelines are designed for managing content across different stages (Development, Test, and Production) within Power BI workspaces, but once a report is published to a workspace, downloading the .pbix file is restricted unless the "Download .pbix" option was enabled before publishing. Additionally, reports connected to Live Connection or DirectQuery datasets cannot be downloaded.

However, a possible workaround is to maintain a local copy of the .pbix file before deploying it using Deployment Pipelines. If you need to make a report downloadable after deployment, you may need to manually export a copy from the source workspace where the report was originally created (assuming downloads are allowed). Alternatively, if you want users to access report content offline, they can export report data to Excel, PDF, or PowerPoint through the Power BI Service.
