Power BI Service

I have a visual on the power BI desktop and published it to power bi service.

I tried sharing the report to myself and to another co worker and neither one of us received the email (the box is checked to send an email to recipient).  Does anyone know what that didnt send?
Also, how does the sharing work. If I schedule a refresh and schedule emails will it refresh in the DB that I am connected to on the desktop?

How do I schedule a refresh and schedule to send emails automatically?
Any help you can provide is appreciated.

Thank you

Lori

Hi @VPlorim

For question 1 :how to share reports in power bi service?

With sharing, whether you share content inside or outside your organization, you need a Power BI Pro license. Your recipients also need Power BI Pro licenses, unless the content is in a Premium capacity.

Here is the reference.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/service-share-dashboards

For question 2: how to schedule refresh?

Pls check the reference :

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/refresh-data

if you're using schedule refresh, you can refer to :

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/refresh-scheduled-refresh

But before making a refresh, for some kinds of data, you need first to configure the data souce.

Here is the reference.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/service-gateway-data-sources

For question 3 : How to send emails automatically?

You can make a subscription.

Here is the reference:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/consumer/end-user-subscribe

Best Regards,
Kelly

Hi there

Here are details on how to subscribe to a report
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/consumer/end-user-subscribe

If you want the dataset to be updated/refreshed you have to set this up by going into the dataset settings and then enabling and getting the scheduled refresh working.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/refresh-scheduled-refresh
