Power BI Service extremely slow

Hi all!
Is anybody experiencing slowness in reports on the PBI Service?

My users are complaining that every report in every workspace is extremely slow, today.  And I tried myself to create a report in the service: a blank (I mean: totally empty) page was predicted by a gray bar on the top to take about 4 minutes to load (!!)

A simple slicer on the Date table (10 years... 3650 rows, so) took ages to load.

The MS Service status page states that "every service rusn smoothly".

We are hosted in West Europe (Netherlands)

Thanks of any feedback!

  • I suggest you to try the exact same test of a simple test on a pro workspace (my workspace is ok). If it works it's very likely that someone on the same capacity (maybe another workspace?) is running some heavy jobs causing throttling on the capacity.

ask to see the capacity metrics app, you may see high spikes and burn down.

  • Hi iW1DOV

Please check the below if you are facing slowness in PowerBI Service , however I didnt face any sort of slowness as you did:

    • A tenant/capacity issue on your side
    • Regional service degradation that isn’t showing on the public status page yet
    • Backend latency between your tenant, capacity, and data sources
    • Heavy concurrent load or a shared capacity problem
    • Less likely: a report design issue — since you said even a blank page is taking minutes, that points more to service/capacity than report logic

Microsoft 365 admin center / Power Platform admin center

    • Look for Message Center or service health advisories
    1. Power BI Capacity Metrics
      • If you’re on Premium/Embedded capacity, check CPU, memory, interactive/query saturation
    2. Tenant region / data source region
      • Confirm the dataset and gateway/data source aren’t in a far-off region
    3. Test from another network / browser
      • To rule out a client/network issue
    4. Try a tiny report in Desktop published to Service
      • If even that is slow, it strengthens the case for service/capacity problems

Let me know if the above troubleshooting steps help the cause.

If you found my solution useful dont forget to mark this solution as accepted as it becomes easy for others to find it quickly!!

  • are you on a premium/fabric capacity or shared capacity?
