Power BI Service can't connect to Postgres.

So, I have a Postgres database that is avaialable on AWS. I have connected to the database using the Postgres connector in "Get Data" in Power BI desktop and unchekced the "Encrypt Connection" box. This allowed me to connect build reports which I then published to an organization workspace used by my company.

However, I am unable to see any data on the reports published and upon checking getting the "remote certificate invalid error".

Please assist on this matter.

Hi @Modash12 ,
I my case Power BI Service "told" me in one error message (dataset refresh failure) which driver version Service needs to achive a successful refresh.
Currently ODBC driver "Npgsql-4.0.10" works well for our needs.
Setup an ODBC Connection on your Gateway VM and try out.

Hi @Modash12 ,
as @aj1973 mentioned an on-prem gateway...
make sure you have installed a postgre driveron your gateway machine - I guess you have to use a bit "older" one, not last stable - we have this case in our company.
Reason for using an "older" driver is Power BI Service accepts connection through a specific version and no higher - at least that is the case in our region (West Europe)

I have installed a personal gateway, but the option is grayed out for me.

@Modash12

Your Postgres Database is in the cloud hosted by AWS, no need for Gateway. However you need to contact the hosting provider :

Personal gateway should be fine for this purpose, but there are limitation.
I recommend to use gateway standard mode.

Your message above tells you all data sources are in the cloud.
Your PostgreDB is on-prem? If yes, then you have to install postgre driver in your machine where gateway is running.
I´m bit confused about the message from Service and your description.
Pls provide more exact information for better (potential) solution proposal.

Regards

I have only one source which is a Postgres DB on cloud. Although it's possible for me to connect in Desktop, published dashboards are unable to connect the Postgres DB.

@sergej_og Thanks for the response.
How can I know which "older" version driver will Power BI Service accept.

Hi @Modash12

You need an On-premis Gateway
