Power BI Service and Excel spreadsheet in Sharepoint issues

Hello everyone

We have a spreadsheet that currently sits in a Sharepoint folder (although, in theory, we could move it to anywhere) that two users update on a regular basis. This spreadsheet is linked to a Power BI .pbix file, and the visuals on that report pull through data from the spreadsheet.

This works fine in Power BI desktop, but I'm having problems getting it to work in the Power BI Service. I'm getting error messages saying that I must set up a Gateway, although I have no idea what that means or how to do it!

So, my questions are:

1. Is setting up a Gateway the only way to achieve what I need to do?

2. Is there any way within Power BI Desktop to make sure that users can only see the built report (i.e. no underlying data and certainly not have the ability to change Measures or add / remove fields).

As you might have guessed I'm quite new to this!
