Power BI Service Subscription = Mail Not Receiving If Dataset Refreshed Before 5.30 AM ( India Time)

Hi,

Need Help,

Power BI Subscription

Frequency = After Data Refresh Once Daily

Mail not receiving If my dataset refreshed before 5.30 AM ( India Time ). but If i refreshed dataset after 5.30 AM ( India Time ) then i receive a mail.

What is the issue ? Is there any setting for this ?

Hi @Anonymous

In theory if you only refresh it once a day it will then send out the email subscription after the dataset refresh. You will just have to wait say 24-36 hours for it to start to work as expected.

Hi @PPK2698,

All subscriptions that have the frequency set to After data refresh will only send an email after the first scheduled refresh on that day.

The subscription feature in the Power BI service does not fulfill your needs, you can try.

(1) Aligning the data set with the tenant's region

(2) With Microsoft Power Automate, you can create emails that are sent automatically when new data is added or existing data is updated.

More information about subscriptions can be found at : Email subscriptions for reports and dashboards in the Power BI service - Power BI | Microsoft Docs

Email with Power Automate - Training | Microsoft Docs

we are having a similar problem.

we have reports that users have subscribed to received emails, which they used to get but since this week, no emails are being received by the users from the PBI report.

i understand that per report there is a limit of 24 subscriptions, but they havent reached that limit.

Please advise.

@v-tangjie-msft  Thaks For Report

(1) Aligning the data set with the tenant's region  == How to align dataset with the tenant region ?

(2) With Microsoft Power Automate, you can create emails that are sent automatically when new data is added or existing data is updated. == Which trigger/Action should i use in power automate for new data is added or existing data is updated ?

Hi @PPK2698,

(1)Your default data region is determined by the location selected during sign-up. However, this region may not be optimal if most of your users are located in a different geographic location. You might want to move to another region to reduce latency or to ensure data governance. You can’t move your organization’s tenant between regions by yourself.

If you need to change your default data location from the current region to another region, you have to contact support to manage the migration for you.

Refer to the offical document.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/admin/service-admin-region-move

(2)How to send emails using Power Automate, you can refer to How To Send Emails With Power Automate [ Many Examples ] (zeitgeistcode.com).

If you want more detailed information about Power Automate, you can go to Automate Community.Microsoft Power Automate Community - Power Platform Community

Hi @Anonymous

What could happen is that all the Power BI Servers are at the timeszone of GMT, so if this happens after midnight in GMT it will consider it a new day?

@GilbertQ

Subscription Frequency = After Data Refresh Once Daily

India Timezone UTC  +5.30

Now what happing in this scenario, my dataset refreshed 12-09-2022  2.00 AM (India TimeZone)  but as per the power bi service timezone it refreshed 11-09-2022  9.30 PM means previous day so mail not receiving through subscription because 11-09-2022 this day already mail received using subscription so mail not getting twice in a day, thats why i want power bi subscription ( Frequency = After Data Refresh Once Daily) with UTC +5.30 timezone, so is there any workaround ?
