Power BI Service Formatting Bug - Data Label

Bug: Formating is not preserved on the data label on a line and stacked column chart. Desktop shows correct format. Publishing report removes formating applied. The bug occurs when you create a calculation group with a dynamic format string enabled.

How to repliacte the bug:

  1. Open a blank PBI report
  2. Create an empty table so that you can create two measures
    1. measure one will be "one" = 1
    2. measure two will be datalabelvalue = "0.2"
      1. format measure two as a percentage.
  3. Create a calculation group and set Dynamic Format string = yes.
  4. On a line and stacked column chart, add the measure "one" to the y-axis.
  5. Change the data label to the datalabelvalue measure.
  6. Publish the report to service.
  7. The visual on desktop vs service

Hi @Marcus079574,

Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.

It looks like you are facing a bug when formating a data label on Line and Stacked Column Chart which is preserved in Power BI Desktop but gets removed when publishing the report to the Power BI Service. As already mentioned by @lbendlin, please raise a support ticket for your issue.

I would also take a moment to thank @lbendlin, for actively participating in the community forum and for the solutions you’ve been sharing in the community forum. Your contributions make a real difference.

If I misunderstand your needs or you still have problems on it, please feel free to let us know.

Thank you.

Thanks Hammad, I have raised a support ticket. To clarify more about this bug. If you follow the steps above, but toggle the dynamic format string on the calculation group to no, then the bug disappears - formatting is preserved on desktop vs service. What's odd about this is that the calculation group is not even applied to the page with the line and bar visual showing (hence why this is definitely a bug).

Hi @Marcus079574,
