Power BI Service - Contributor role Access

Hello There,

Hope you people are doing great.

I have a query related to Contributor role in Power BI.

  • Contributor - This role can access and interact with reports and dashboards. Additionally, this role can create, edit, copy, and delete items in a workspace, publish reports, schedule refreshes, and modify gateways.

I am looking for an option to control the contributor permissions to "modify gateways", I am not sure if there's a way that I can disable this privilege for the contributor role in Power BI.

Please share me if anyone come across this situation, appreciate your help on this.

Regards,

Radhi

Hi @NimaiAhluwalia ,

That's true, it is not possible to do changes to the contributor capability in here. But I managed provide required access by granting Viewer access to the user to the workspace and provide build permission to the data set within workspace.

That resolved my issue.

Thanks for your support.

Radhi

Hi @krrish_rk ,

So far, cannot disable " Modify gateway connection settings" for contributor role in Power BI, but about this feature for Contributor role, please keep in mind " Modify gateway connection settings" are only give contributor user  permission  to configure gateway connection for dataset, these user also need permission on the gateway

Hello,

I guess so it is not possible to do this, if you have admin rights you can have a look if we have an option to do it, otherwise, this is not possible.
