Power BI Service | App Disappearing

Hello,

I have had a user complain to me recently about a Power BI app disappearing from the service everytime he navigates away and comes back.

He is able to go to the Apps menu, 'Get Apps' and install this again, and it appears to remember his last position in the report. However if you go back to the service home and refresh the page the App is no longer installed. He is also unable to add it to favourites.

Anyone experienced this before?

    Hi Anonymous ,

Permissions of this App, which type of it access?

    Entire organization:

You can use feature this app on Home. This will display this app in the Featured section on Power BI Home for people with access, even if the user has not installed this app.

    Specific individuals or group:

You can install this app automatically for users when you update app. Also the function feature this app on Home agree to work under this situation.

unable to add it to favourites. if you remove the access of this user, the user had added it to favourites before, and you add access for this user again, he can not add to favourites via the stars icon on the left-top of this app.

Or you can share more detail about this case, if you need more help.

    Best Regards

      Thanks for the detailed reply!

The user is part of a group which has permissions to access the app. There are over 200 users in this group, none of the others have experienced this issue. To my knowledge, access has never been revoked and re-applied. The app is also, set to 'Install Automatically.'

I will try to see if 'Featuring' has any benefit, but ultiamtely it doesn't seem like it's a permission issue. He can go to 'Get Apps' and get straight to the app, but as soon as he navigates away from the page and returns it's gone - as if it was never installed in the first place.

  • I have this too. It is an app I have created and that I publish. However, it doesn;t appear in "My Apps". Like your colleague I can click on "Get Apps" and it will install it and all appears well, until, I navigate away and return to the app when it has disappeared from my App list. In the workspace where the reports that make up the app are the "Include in App" radio buttons are "washed out" (a more colourful version of the standard "greyed out"). But I am still able to refresh and update the app. I have "Install this App Automatically" ticked. My audiences are based on a Teams Team membership, the workspace users (which is the teams membership) and a mailing list for my whole department, about 400-500 people. Going to my PBi service home page it doesn't appear among my Favorites or frequents, although it is both. Adding it to my favourites does not make it appear in this list either. In the workspace I see the options "Endorse this app", "Stop Featuring this app" (so, apparently I am featuring it) and "Unpublish App". I don't see the "Feature this app on home" option presumably because I have already chosen it but it appears not to work. Did you ever resolve this?
