Power BI Report connecting to Managed instance

We recently migrated from Azure SQL Server to Managed instance. We were able to repoint the reports in desktop client to the new managed instance and refresh the reports. Everything worked fine in the desktop client. While publishing the report, the data set throws an error and hence the schedule gets disabled.

Also, we are unable to update the credentials using oAuth2 method .

So we went with basic method and get the below error.

Below is the error:

Failed to update data source credentials: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

Please advice!

Hi @Quest ,

Try to configure the corresponding gateway for such data source and publish it to the service again to see if it works.

Also check if the migration is done in the right way.

Thanks. We created a gateway to work around this.
