Hello everyone,
for a customer I have to create some paginated reports. The reports should be based on an existing data set in a premium workspace. I am an admin of the premium workspace, so I should have full access.
I use Power BI Report Builder and can connect to the Power BI Dataset connection.
I try to create a dataset and click on "Query Designer":
Then I will receive the following error message:
I have never experienced that error before. The data set has the data imported but there is no scheduled refresh. I tried with another report that has an Azure SQL database as source with a scheduled refresh. I still get the same error.
Does anyone have an idea why that error happens and how I could solve it?
Thank you and best regards
Denis
I faced the same problem. For me it was a data source that had been depricated. I changed all my datasets to refer to the newer available sources but forgot to delete the data source. Once I deleted that depricated data source, everything went back normal

Hi @selimovd ,
Paginated reports require Read permission. Only Import mode and DirectQuery Power BI datasets are supported. Report queries using a DirectQuery Power BI dataset as a data source have a fixed 10 minute time-out. For report queries taking longer than 10 minutes, use the Power BI dataset's XMLA Read/Write endpoint as the report data source.

Hey @v-kkf-msft ,
the error still appears.
As I wrote the data set has the data imported. So all the DirectQuery things don't apply.
Do you have any idea what that could be?
Thank you and best regards

Is your problem solved? I have the same issue.
