Power BI Refresh Failed due to transient error often
- Anonymous1 year ago
Hi Balakrishnan_J ,
The DM_GWPipeline_Client_AsyncOperationExpired error indicates a temporary timeout in Power BI, typically resulting from extended wait times for SharePoint responses. This is often caused by network latency, complex queries, or overlapping refreshes, rather than SharePoint versioning. Versioning itself does not trigger this error, as Power BI always accesses the latest file. However, if a file is being replaced during a refresh, it can lead to brief locks or delays. To minimize these issues, consider staggering refresh schedules, optimizing queries, and maintaining versioning, as it does not negatively impact the process.
Hi! Transient errors usually clear themselves up. When you say over and over - how often is it happening? Do you notice a pattern on day or time of day?
- Retry the Refresh: Wait a few minutes and try again.
- Check Gateway Health: If you're using an on-premises data gateway, ensure it's running and not overloaded.
- Optimize Queries: Long-running queries can cause timeouts—consider simplifying or indexing your data sources.
- Contact Support: If the issue continues, reach out to Microsoft support with the error code for deeper investigation.
