Power BI Publish

Hi, community,

and amitchandak

I'm unable to publish the dashboard with the OneDrive source file.

Got the following error :

"Sorry, you don't have access to publish to this workspace. Please contact the owner for access"

I've logged in to Desktop also, and have access to workspace in Service too!!

Still unable to publish it.

Anyone has any idea or have been through it before??

Sorry, can't share the error image.

    Hi Niraj_vora0106

This is probably because you have "viewer" access to the workspace you're trying to publish to. "Viewers" can see the workspace and any reports in it, but cannot publish new content into the workspace, receiving the error you are getting.

You need to ask the Workspace administrator for "Contributor" or "Member" access to the workspace which will allow you to publish Reports to it.

    Hope this helps

    Hi, thanks for the reply

I myself am "Admin" of the workspace still, I'm not able to publish

    How's that possible?

      Hey Niraj_vora0106 ,

first make sure you have at least a Power BI Pro license assigned. You can be a Power BI workspace Admin but do not necessarily have a Pro license assigned.

If you open Power BI Desktop and connect to Power BI Service, are you seeing the workspace you want to publish the Power BI desktop report to(the pbix file)?

If not, check if the workspace has been assigned to a Premium Per User capacity. If the workspace is on a Premium Per User capacity you need a Premium Per User license assigned to publish a Power BI file to this workspace.

Hopefully, this provides some new ideas on how to tackle your challenge.

      Regards,

      Tom

    Hi Niraj_vora0106 ,

Please check your problem according to super user's suggestion above, if you still can't publish properly, we provide the following workaround:

    • Sign Out and Sign In again from PowerBI Desktop and then try to publish
    • Login in Power BI service, lick Get Data box on the lower left hand side and use “Files->Local file” entry to upload your PBIX file to pull/upload your file.

    Hope it helps,
