Power BI Premium

With https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/important-update-coming-to-power-bi-premium-licensing/,

After February 1, 2025, existing Power BI Premium per capacity customers should work with their Microsoft account representative to transition to a suitable Fabric capacity and pricing plan at the time of their next renewal, which provides access to Azure-only features, and is eligible for Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitment (MACC).

When renewing Power BI Premium with Azure Synapse Analytics, the workspace must be migrated to Fabric?

anyone could confirm it?

Hi @yongshao,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community.

Yes, when renewing Power BI Premium with Azure Synapse Analytics after February 1 2025, it is necessary to migrate the workspace to Microsoft Fabric. Microsoft has indicated that current Power BI Premium per capacity users will need to switch to an appropriate Fabric capacity and pricing plan at their next renewal.

As we haven’t heard back from you, we wanted to kindly follow up to check if the solution addressed the issue.

Hi @yongshao  - Yes, according to Microsoft's announcement, after February 1, 2025, existing Power BI Premium per capacity customers are expected to transition to a suitable Fabric capacity and pricing plan at the time of their next renewal.

This transition is necessary because Microsoft is retiring the Power BI Premium per capacity SKUs (P-SKUs) in favor of Fabric capacities, which offer a more integrated and comprehensive data platform experience.

Please note that while the transition to Fabric capacities is encouraged to take advantage of the latest features and integrations, the specific requirements for migrating workspaces associated with Azure Synapse Analytics may vary based on your organization's setup and needs.

Transitioning to Microsoft Fabric from Power BI Premium

Hope the above details helps.
