Power BI Premium question

Hello:

 

I want to what is difference between Power BI Premium P1 Node and Power BI Premium GEN-2. P1 cost $5000 a month and with same premium features it cost $20 a developer.

 

I see a huge advantage of going from 25GB RAM on P1 node to GEN-2 of 100GB RAM per user. but still I am trying to understand real difference that organization will move from P1 node to GEN2 or is it worth moving to GEN2 from P1 node?

 

Any details is greatly appreciated.

    Hi Anonymous 

     

    I think that you need to understand is that Power BI Premium P1 is still exactly the same.

    P1 actually uses the Gen2 architecture too.

     

    What you are referring to is Power BI Premium Per User (PPU), which is where each user will be able to use 100GB of RAM. With PPU each user will need a PPU license to consume content in a PPU App Workspace.

     

    You can still keep your P1, with the 25GB and will be much faster.

    Premium Gen2 is a new version of Power BI Premium. Premium Gen2 is currently in preview, and is available for Premium subscribers to use during the preview period. Premium Gen2 provides the following updates or improved experiences:

    • Ability to license Premium Per User in addition to by capacity.
    • Enhanced performance on any capacity size, anytime.
    • No limits on refresh concurrency.
    • Fewer memory restrictions.
