Power BI Premium Per User License

Hello hello,

 

I was hoping to get your input on a question I have on Premium Per User Workspace.

 

My client has a report published to a workspace that is curretly using a Pro license. However the datasource for the dashboard has exceeded 1 GB, so I suggested to upgrade the workspace to a Premium Per User license.

 

Will upgrading a workspace from Pro to Premium Per User incur extra cost on the client? Is there a cost associated with Small Sematic Model storage vs Large Semantic Model Storage? Lets assume that all users who need access to that report already have PPU licenses.

 

Also, if I need to publish a second dashboard to this workspace that has a datasource much smaller than 1GB, do you think I should publish the second dashboard to a different workspace that is of type Pro. My understanding is that any premium license - PPU or Premium Capacity - comes with a certain storage limit and that we need to push a report in this premium workspace only if the report needs to have some features like additional memory per data source etc.

 

Any help is appreciated.

    Hi. There is no additional costs with PPU. The only cost is the developer and viewers. Consider PPU is more expensive than PRO. PPU should work for big data models like that one. You can compare some features and limits here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/products/power-bi/pricing

    Additional costs for storage are only considered for Fabric licenses (dedicated capacity). Onelake has an additional cost. Premium per capacity is not available any more.
