Power BI Premium Gen2 Capacity

You are pretty close to the max size of your P2 capacity at 50GB with your model being 52GB.
I would suggest looking to see if you can make it a bit smaller
With regards to Gen2 your memory allocation is not counted for dataset refreshes or queries, so you would be fine there.

so we are thinking of migrating the SSAS Tabular model using Tabular Editor, which i believe will just deploy the model medata. ONce the model is deployed to premium capacity, we can then do a refresh of the model. At this point, the refresh will probably use more than the 50GB capacity of the P2, which from what you are saying is ok. Also, after refresh the model size will be about 52 GB and will keep growing in the future as we keep adding more data. Is the model size of 52 GB a problem since we only have the 50 GB in the P2 or will the model be allowed to refresh completely?

For Gen2 as far as I understand you will still be limited by the amount of memory you have purchased.
In your example you have a P2 which is a total of 50GB.
If your model is currently at 52Gb and it is going to grow this will be larger than your allocated 50GB.
The refresh will be able to complete as the refresh memory for Gen2 is not counted towards your total memory allocation.Hi GilbertQ,
