Power BI Premium Capacity

I had a few questions on the PBI premium capacity –

  • Am I allowed to create a deployment pipeline using a mixture of two types of workspace, one being PPU and another being Premium Capacity
  • If I have the dataset in workspace A (backed by P1) and a live connected report in workspace B (Backed by P2). Capacity of which workspace would be used while using the report? Will it be P1 or P2?
  • If I have three workspaces created by PPU, how will the capacity be distributed among the three workspace?

Hi @SumanBindu ,

Yes, you are allowed to create a deployment pipeline using a mixture of two types of workspace.

If you have the dataset in workspace A (backed by P1) and a live connected report in workspace B (Backed by P2), the capacity of workspace A (P1) would be used while using the report. When you create your report in Power BI Desktop, you can connect it to a dataset that already exists. Therefore, the report will use the data from the dataset in workspace A, and consume the resources of the P1 capacity.

If you have three workspaces created by PPU, the capacity will be distributed among the three workspaces according to their needs and demands.
