Power BI Ownership transfer
I am resigning soon and as such my microsoft account will be removed from the company. I have given other people in the company Read, Share, Build priviledges to my Power BI report and semanitc model. (Direct Access)
If my account is deleted will they still be able to access this as I am the workspace admin etc or will they still have access.
I am swapping all my connections aswell to a common account as currently on my personal cloud connection. Wondering if however the overall model wont be able to be used if my account is fully removed?
They will have access. But why don't you give workspace permission (admin rights) to a couple of people to access different workspaces. It makes then easier for people to administrate different stuff.

Sergej’s response is indeed accurate. When your Microsoft account is removed, the users who were granted Read, Share, and Build privileges to your Power BI report and semantic model will still retain access. Here’s why:
- Workspace Permissions:
- The permissions granted within a workspace (such as Read, Share, and Build) are independent of the user who initially set them up.
- Even if your account is deleted, the permissions you assigned to others remain intact within the workspace.
- Workspace Admins:
- As the workspace admin, you have control over workspace settings, data sources, and other configurations.
- To ensure continuity, consider assigning additional workspace admins (as Sergej suggested). These admins can manage the workspace even if your account is removed.
- Data Source Connections:
- Swapping your connections to a common account is a good practice.
- However, the overall model will still function as long as the data source connections are valid (even if your account is removed).
In summary, your colleagues will continue to have access to the Power BI report and semantic model, and the overall functionality won’t be affected by your account removal. 😊
