Power BI Metrics Refresh Stopped After Inactivity – How to Fix?
Hello,
I am currently using a Power BI Pro account and sharing reports with my team members.
Due to personal circumstances, I was unable to access the report metrics for about two months. As a result, the scheduled refresh has been automatically disabled because of inactivity.
For more than a month now, I have tried all the usual solutions to reactivate it, without success:
- Opening and consulting the report multiple times a day
- Creating copies of the report
- Attempting to trigger refresh actions
Unfortunately, the issue persists. Even the option to refresh the semantic model is unavailable, and I keep receiving the following message:
"Scheduled refresh has been disabled due to inactivity."
This report is now essential for my daily work, and I am unable to proceed without it.
I would greatly appreciate any guidance or solution to resolve this issue.

Yes, When Microsoft detects no report/dashboard usage for ~2 months, scheduled refresh may be paused.
You can try below Options to reactivate it:-
- Manually turn Scheduled refresh off and then on Workspace → Semantic model → Settings, then disable schedule refresh -> save-> enable scheduled refresh, set frequency again
- Trigger Manual Refresh from Semantic Model, if refresh button is not visible then make sure you've the ownership of the semantic model, if not take over the ownership of the semantic model
- if the report was created by a different owner take ownership and re-enter credentials, gateway mapping and refresh schedule again
- Finally, You can republish your report and replace the older one and set up the schedule again

Generally, what grazitti_sapna said will work.
If for some reason it doesn't work, you can go to the workspace settings, storage, and find the usage metrics report semantic model, and delete that model from that page. Then when you open the usage metrics report again it will re-create the model for you and load all the data again.
If you need to change the credentials, this is the only way to do it.
