Power BI Manage data relationships from excel sharepoint

Based on my experience and test, the reason why the data relationship mode is grey out in your Power BI desktop after connecting to the dataset is because you are using the live connection mode, but live connection mode don't support for the model change or data relationship building, it's like connecting to a remote data model, but you have a option to change the data connection mode to the dataset to "Direct query" that can support the model change and data relationship building.
